Diego Lombardi, Creative... mind.
When you love what you do and do what you love, you are one of the luckiest people! I am one of those: I am passionate about my job, and this shows in all my creations. In each of them, I aim to infuse a little bit of magic, of passion, which I believe add a unique value to my works and to my clients. Whatever hard work it takes to achieve such result is my commitment, as for me this result is also the prize!
For over twelve years I have worked in Italy and the UK working as a specialist in strategic visual communication. I have a strong portfolio in development and enhancement of corporate images via campaign, strategic communication, logo, branding and web services, both for small companies and large corporates. Each project benefits from my creativity and expertise, so I can deliver high-quality concept, design and visual arts. I am the head and main designer behind Diexel, and manage a team of skilled freelancers, carefully selected to meet the needs of each project and client. I supervise and participate in each phase of the creative process, from concept to realisation, infusing them with innovative and forward-thinking ideas. Within Diexel, I combine design talent, deep understanding of branding and marketing tools, in order to provide the latest visual materials to define and refine my clients' marketing communication.
Presence on The Web has gained importance at an increasing rate since I started working in this field in the late 90's. It is now essential for companies, and more and more for individuals via social media, to offer proper information and managed both the information contents, brands and images accessible via the web, and often exclusively on the web.
For more than a decade, I have worked on web designs, web projects and creations, as well as web branding, always staying on tune with the latest technologies and tools to develop new creations and websites. There is much involved is launching a new website and working on e-branding, from understanding and meeting the client/company needs, to adjusting to the target audience, from working within a planned budget to developing a superior user experience whilst using different software and making a product accessible from any platform.
With my passion for images and visual arts, photography is intrinsically attractive. A good shot is a unique way of converting a desire, an instant or a glimpse in an original image. After working alongside renowned and great photographers, the aspiration and need to get behind the lens had become impossible to resist, and with their advice, my eyes and my heart, I launched myself as a photographer. My aim, showing through my pictures the emotions that lie behind the everyday scenes. My pictures give back what is special in the normal surroundings of modern life, of urban life.
Branding is a recognised key element of the image of a company, or an individual whose name or speciality has turned him/her into a living brand, and requires a very special attention. With the increasing importance of the web in everyday life, branding has now developed a new branch, e-branding, which is a digital representation of the brand online. Some brands had to be reinvented, re-thought and modernised as they did not fit the online requirements. As a creative director, I not only work on defining a brand for all media purposes (campaigns, brochures, strategies and target audience), I am also a specialist in re-thinking and adjusting the brands to its e-strategy. I ensure in and offline branding are in harmony, and that all visual marketing communications are in tune with the required images and aims of the clients/company I work for.
"Photography is just one of the means explored in Diego Lombardi's wide freedom of expression. Through his unique eye, fascinated by surrounding reality in continuous movement, originates evocative work able to capture the spectator into a game of colours and emotions that his productions inspire.
Spontaneity, the most immediate characteristic of his ability to see reality from original viewpoints, derives from his desire to express himself and to conceive photography: none of his art has been shaped by academia, everything springs and lives in the most absolute naturalism, point of force by which it's easy to be seduced.
From his most intense shots one has the impression to look through a small opening on a different world, a reality forged over such strong sensations that it would be impossible to capture in any other way.
Lombardi's works are developed on materials - such as plexiglas or aluminium - carefully selected by the artist, and are integral part of the large critic and public success recently obtained in his last Roman expositions at the Chiostro del Bramante: Urban Normality and Codice 02." Part of branding and visual communication marketing imply skills in adjusting and refining photos to achieve the perfect match between quality and message. The visual impact must be strong, but with the right harmony of colours, balance in elements, adequate colours, and including the details that define the company.
I believe photo-retouching is also an art. When working on photos, I focus on reaching this perfect balance, but I aim to still respect the image. A good photo retouching must be discreet, and stay natural. Achieving the right visual work, with its right impact and message, is a challenge and a reward, and I enjoy both.
