Forget Kissing Each Other, Getting Strangers To Slap Each Other Is Much Cooler

Remember The “We asked 40 people to hit each other in the face for the first time,” begins this brief YouTube video titled “The Slap,” uploaded by user, Uptomyknees.

I can’t really explain it, but this video is wildly fun to watch. Perhaps it speaks to a hidden sentiment all humans share; really, we just want to slap a stranger.

The brilliance of this video, of course, is that it plays off Tatia Pilieva’s “First Kiss” video that went viral in March. This video shares a similar structure and mirrors the original clip’s soundtrack, but takes the physicality to soaring new heights.

Vice subsequently released an epic follow up to “First Kiss,” titled “We Got 20 Strangers Who Aren’t Models to Kiss Each Other.”

That short is, arguably, well worth your time and attention. There’s nothing more hilarious than unfortunate couplings and a hint of prudishness to put a smile on your face.

“First Slap,” however, blows both shorts out of the water. Perhaps it’s the way things escalate so quickly, or the fact that no one appears to be (seriously) injured in the slapfest.

Or, maybe, it’s that this video reveals a telling separate but equal portrait on primal nature.
